Delete your Zawāj account

1. Delete from the app

1. Open Zawāj and sign in to the account you want to delete.
2. Tap the Profile tab in the bottom bar.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page, past the Support and legal section.
4. Tap Delete account.
5. Read the confirmation, then tap Delete account again to confirm.

Your account is deactivated straight away and you are signed out. Nobody can see your profile from that moment, and it is permanently deleted 30 days later.

2. What deletion does

Deleting your account permanently removes:

• Your account and sign-in, including your name, email address, username, and date of birth
• Your answers to daily questions and your topic preferences
• Any pending partner requests you sent or received
• Your chaperone links and invitations, whether you were being supervised or acting as a chaperone
• Your matchmaking profile and preferences, and the photos you uploaded to it
• Your current match and any open match proposal. The other person is released and told the match has ended
• Your match history, offer records, Match Guarantee claims, and our record of your membership

Any partnership you were in is archived rather than deleted, so your former partner keeps access to their own responses only. Your responses are removed.

Deactivation is immediate. Your profile disappears, your sign-in stops working, and any match or partnership is closed for good. After 30 days everything listed above is permanently erased and cannot be recovered.

Changed your mind? Email support@zawaaj.app from the address on the account within those 30 days and we can reactivate it. Partnerships, requests and matches that were closed when you deleted are not brought back.

Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Cancel it in your App Store subscription settings so you are not charged again.

3. Don't have the app any more?

Email us from the email address registered to your account and we will delete it for you.

We will deactivate your account within a few working days of receiving your request and confirm by email once it is done. It is then permanently deleted 30 days after deactivation, exactly as if you had deleted it in the app. We can only act on requests sent from the email address on the account, so we know it is really you.

4. Records we may keep

We may retain some records after deletion where the law requires it, such as subscription and payment records kept for accounting purposes. We also keep an anonymous summary of the account (its type, gender, age range, country and activity counts) for product analytics. It contains nothing that identifies you.
