Zawāj ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
Your answers to daily conversation questions on topics such as religious values, personality, lifestyle, marriage roles, family, parenting, finances, and wellbeing.
Flags and comments you leave on your partner's responses. These are private and only visible to you.
Your prioritization of conversation topics, which helps us personalize your experience.
Device token for push notifications to keep you informed about your partner's activity and new questions.
When you contact support, we collect your message along with device information (app version, iOS version, device model) to help us diagnose issues and provide better assistance.
If you participate as a chaperone or invite chaperones to supervise your partnership:
If you create a matchmaking profile: your city and country, height, sect and religious practice, ethnicity, languages, marital history, children and family intentions, lifestyle answers, up to six photos, your written bio and answers, your preferences for a spouse, and how you heard about Zawāj.
To verify matchmaking members we ask for a photo of a government ID and a live selfie. Automated checks extract your name and date of birth and compare your face with your ID and profile photos. When verification passes, the ID and selfie images are deleted and we keep only the verification result and the extracted name and date of birth. When automated checks cannot confirm a match, the images are held for manual review by our team and deleted once the review is complete.
Matchmaking members verify a UK mobile number, which is shared only with a confirmed match. Payments are processed by Apple; we never see your card details. We receive confirmation of your subscription status, the product purchased, and the price paid.

After both you and your partner complete your daily questions, you can each view the other's written responses and selected answers.
The following information is never shared with your partner:
A proposed match sees your first name, age, city, and your bio and profile answers first. Photos are shown only after you both accept. Once a match is confirmed, your verified phone number is shared with them and theirs with you. While you are matched, your profile is not shown to any other member. Your email, surname, ID document, and payment details are never shared. Chaperones you have added are notified when you are matched and can see the same proposal information you see.

We use the following third-party services to operate our app:
For user authentication, database storage, cloud functions, push notifications, and analytics. Google's privacy policy applies to data processed by Firebase.
For Sign in with Apple authentication and push notification delivery through Apple Push Notification service (APNs).
As an optional authentication method for creating your account.
For anonymous product analytics to help us understand how our app is used and improve the experience. We do not send any personally identifiable information to PostHog, only anonymous usage data and opaque user identifiers.
For crash reporting and error tracking to help us identify and fix issues quickly. When an error occurs, device and app state information may be sent to Sentry to assist with diagnosis. No personal content (such as your responses or messages) is included in error reports.
Manages membership and payment events for the app. Superwall receives a random membership identifier, your age, gender, city, country, and how you heard about us, together with purchase and renewal events from Apple. It does not receive your name, email, or phone number.
Processes ID and selfie images for identity verification and generates short compatibility notes and profile tips from your written answers. Images are not retained by Google after processing.
Handles payment, receipts, renewals, and refunds under Apple's privacy policy.

You can delete your account directly from the app: open the Profile tab, scroll to the bottom, and tap "Delete account". You may pause or cancel matching at any time, and you may claim under the Match Guarantee from the app.
Zawāj is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 16, please contact us immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in updated versions of the app. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
