• Relationship status
• Marriage timeline

Relationship Responses

Your answers to daily conversation questions on topics such as religious values, personality, lifestyle, marriage roles, family, parenting, finances, and wellbeing.

Personal Notes

Flags and comments you leave on your partner's responses. These are private and only visible to you.

Topic Preferences

Your prioritization of conversation topics, which helps us personalize your experience.

Device Information

Device token for push notifications to keep you informed about your partner's activity and new questions.

Support Messages

When you contact support, we collect your message along with device information (app version, iOS version, device model) to help us diagnose issues and provide better assistance.

Chaperone Information

If you participate as a chaperone or invite chaperones to supervise your partnership:

• Chaperone invitations and their status
• Your role in supervised partnerships (partner or chaperone)
• Account type (partner, chaperone, or both)

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account
• To connect you with your partner
• To deliver daily conversation questions
• To share your responses with your partner after both of you complete your questions
• To send push notifications about new questions, partner activity, and reminders
• To improve app functionality and user experience through analytics
• To respond to your support requests and provide customer assistance
• To facilitate chaperone supervision of partnerships when invited

3. Information Shared with Your Partner

Profile Information

Your partner can see your:

• Full name
• Username
• Date of birth
• Marriage timeline
• Topic priorities

Question Responses

After both you and your partner complete your daily questions, you can each view the other's written responses and selected answers.

Information NOT Shared

The following information is never shared with your partner:

• Your email address
• Personal notes (flags and comments you make on their responses)

4. Information Shared with Chaperones

If you and your partner invite a chaperone to supervise your partnership, the chaperone can see:

• Both partners' full names
• Both partners' responses to questions (only after both partners have completed them)
• Assignment completion status

Chaperones cannot see:

• Your email address
• Your personal notes on your partner's responses
• Any information before both partners complete their questions

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate our app:

Firebase by Google

For user authentication, database storage, cloud functions, push notifications, and analytics. Google's privacy policy applies to data processed by Firebase.

Apple Services

For Sign in with Apple authentication and push notification delivery through Apple Push Notification service (APNs).

Google Sign-In

As an optional authentication method for creating your account.

PostHog

For anonymous product analytics to help us understand how our app is used and improve the experience. We do not send any personally identifiable information to PostHog — only anonymous usage data and opaque user identifiers.

Sentry

For crash reporting and error tracking to help us identify and fix issues quickly. When an error occurs, device and app state information may be sent to Sentry to assist with diagnosis. No personal content (such as your responses or messages) is included in error reports.

6. Data Storage & Security

• Your data is stored securely on Google Firebase servers
• Access to your data is restricted through security rules that ensure only authorized users can view or modify their information
• Authentication is handled through Firebase Auth with encrypted credentials
• All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption

7. Push Notifications

We may send you the following types of notifications:

• New daily questions are available
• Your partner has completed their questions
• Partner request received or accepted
• Reminders from your partner
• Chaperone invitations received or accepted
• Chaperone removal requests

Some notifications may include your partner's or chaperone's name. You can manage notification preferences in the app settings.

8. Data Retention

• Your data is retained while your account exists
• Partnership data is retained even after disconnection from a partner (archived)

9. Your Rights & Account Deletion

You can delete your account directly from the app by going to Settings and tapping "Delete Account". When you delete your account:

• Your profile and personal information will be permanently deleted
• All your answers to questions will be deleted
• Any pending partner requests will be removed
• Your partnerships will be archived (your partner retains access to their own responses only)
• You will be removed as a chaperone from any partnerships you were supervising

10. Children's Privacy

Zawāj is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 16, please contact us immediately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in updated versions of the app. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
